Fashion and sport collaboration



I found these two adverts in vogue magazine, advertising a sports and fashion brand (Adidas and Stella McCartney) collaboration in aid of Team GB for the 2012 London Olympic games. The adverts take a spin on classic london images and give them and edgy fashion twist, with an injection of colour and style. This is a similar idea to what we want to create from a gym bag. We want to create a collaboration of sports and designer fashion to create something that is fit for purpose.

Gym bag analysis


This is a complimentary gym bag that i was given by virgin active by recommending someone to join. It is designed to fit everything in that someone would need to visit the gym. the bag is a unisex bag and the colour scheme is neutral to accommodate this. it has the brand logo and name on the front but is not very pleasing to the eye and has the look of a standard rucksack. 

These are two compartments in the gym bag that are made to facilitate other items which the gym provide. On the left is a clear card compartment where the gym card can be stored and can easily be found at all times. All the lockers at virgin active must be locked with a virgin active combination lock so in the gym bag the is a compartment to store this. 

Inside the bag there is a netted compartment that can be used for holding wet towels and swim wear. 

This is a zipped compartment on the top of the bag that can keep in electrical items in so they don't get wet from the towels and kit within the main bag compartment.

This is another zip compartment on the from of the bag, which is also covered by elastic holding strings.

On the back of the bag there is a headphone hole which means that the headphones from a mp3 player can be pulled through and used while the mp3 player remains in the bag keeping it safe, dry and secure when taking part in physical activities or walking to and from the gym. 

This is the back of the bag. it is ergonomically designed with adjusticble straps to fit different heights of people and with padding so it is comfortably worn. It is a rucksack with 2 straps to distribute the weight evenly between both shoulders.

This is the brand name and logo of the gym which it belongs to. Other items can also be purchased from the gym which all go along with the bag and have their own compartments such as towels, water bottles, locker locks and headphones.

This indicates where all the pockets are in the bag for extra storage other than the main bag compartments.

This is an initial customer profile board that i have done for the ideas that we have come up with.

the customer profile that i have created is:
Age group:25-35
acorn group:A/B
occupation: Business woman (e.g a buyer)
relationship status: single/living with partner (no children)
location: affluent out of city area (cheshire)
interests: Fashion, healthy living, sports and running.

This is just an initial concept for our customer. We need to create and distribute questionnaires to get a more accurate customer profile and find out exactly what is wanted for the product we are creating from the market that it is aimed at.

direction

hey hey

cheers for setting the blog up :) not to sure of the workings of it yet so not mannaged to post stuff but we can run through that on tuesday,

clare, me and lydia discussed the overall direction on tuesday and we decided that we should possibly concentrate and re-invent gym bags which are currently in production for office workers/ daily commute as these are not always aestheticaly pleasing and most could be redesigned so they work better for the environment they are used in.

from here we dicsuded the idea that a gym bag could be made by a high end fasion brand this to disguise the fact it is just gym bag and will fit in more with a office bussiness lifestyle and environment.

for tuesday i think it would be good as a group if we could look at high end fasion companies and then the sporting equivalents, we also need to carry out previous product analysis on gym bags, as well as get a customer profile carried out. i liked the post that lydia put on the blog and i was thinking if we could base the bag on a female buisness woman as the video contains alot of usefull info that we could use to gain a good concentrated user.

Gym bag designed for women

This you tube clip shows a gym bag that has been tactically and ergonomically designed for women at the gym to meet the needs and overcome obstacles that the face during a visit. The bag caters for all items taken to the gym and also incorporates safety feature of leaving your bag in lockers unattended.
